In the British Isles, traveling troupes of mummers turned up on the doorstep for holiday celebrations, supposedly bringing luck. In a similar tradition throughout Asia, traveling performers presented folk tales at community centers and public gathering spots. These performances were thought sometimes to be healing situations and many of the puppet and clown show performers were also available as fortunetellers .Some were actually Buddhist monks of the “Red Hat” sect or Sufis operating free lance.

For a number of years, Magick Mirror Communications (sometimes as Yankee Oracle Productions) has presented folk mummers plays of a modern kind off-off Broadway in New York at a number of different locations. We have performed everywhere  the alarmist can possibly imagine, including the Magick Mirror Space under construction, the posh Americana hotel, the Inferno Disco, Theater For The New City, the 76th Street theater lab, the New Life Expo at the New Yorker Hotel and in the Alchemical Space cellar on Ninth Street in East Greenwich Village as well as the upstairs meeting room of the Theosophical Society of Boston and the Friendly Tea Room. Certain of these mummers musical plays, including “FETCHING THE TREE”, “CONQUEST OF THE ASTEROIDS”,  “RED RIDING HOOD’S REVENGE”, “RADISH “,” SAY HELLO TO ZETA RETICULI”, NEW DAY” and “SWORDS OF THE EQUINIX”  have also been shown on television and/or published in theatrical journals.

These are satires and clown shows for adults which children may also view accompanied by a n older companion. This season, the text of “HOLY DRAGONET” will be read in chamber theater style for those who have an interest in “ancient and primal forces” as well as the psychology of the absurd which may lie behind “ufo hoaxes” and “archeological inventions”.
